Special Diets & Food Allergies
Special Diets are for students who have a severe food intolerance or allergy to a particular food item, eg., soy, peanuts/tree nuts, wheat, milk, eggs, fish & shellfish. A special diet may also be required for students needing meals with modified calories or nutrients and/or for students requiring altered textures to food such as pureed & chopped. The Child Nutrition Department will provide special diets or meal modifications only if a doctor's note with the required meal modifications is on file.
If a student has a food allergy or intolerance and needs a customized menu in order to avoid specific food items and/or ingredients, please have your child's medical doctor fill out the special dietary needs form found above. Please have the doctor specify whether the child needs to avoid the food altogether or whether they can have the food if it's listed as an ingredient.
Once completed by a medical doctor or nurse practitioner please return the form(s) to campus registrar and it will be forwarded to the food service department.
We are not able to accommodate students for non-medical nutrition preferences. Students with specific food preferences, likes or dislikes are not accommodated and should not be confused with allergies and other medical conditions that require accommodations. The student menu offers a variety of choices. Students are encouraged to select a variety of foods to promote good health and good eating habits.
For questions about special diets or meal modifications, please contact our Food Service department at 281-879-4151
